Getting Customix into your store takes just a few minutes. This guide covers installing the app, the short setup survey you see the first time, and turning on the app embed so personalization options can appear on your product pages.
Step 1: Install the app from the Shopify App Store
- Open the Customix Product Personalizer listing on the Shopify App Store.
- Click Install and log in to your Shopify store if asked.
- Review the permissions Customix needs and click Install to confirm.
Customix needs access to your products, themes and orders so it can show options on your product pages, read product details, and attach personalization data to orders.

Step 2: Tell us about your store
Right after installing, Customix opens a short survey called Tell us about your store. Your answers help us show you the right setup:
- Do you need a print-ready file for your orders? Choose I need a print file if you or your print provider produce the items, or I don't need a print file if you only need fields like dropdowns, swatches and text.
- Which features do you need? Tick everything that applies, such as Live preview, Custom text or Image upload.
- How much would you pay per month? Pick your budget, then click Continue.
After the survey, you'll see the plan selection screen, where you can start a free trial on a paid plan or continue on Free. If you chose Free only, Customix skips this screen.

Step 3: Start your first option set (or skip for now)
On Let's get you started, choose how to create your first option set:
- Start from scratch: Click Start with blank to build an option set from an empty canvas.
- Use popular templates: Pick a free, ready-made option set by product type (Apparel, Drinkware, Frame and more) and edit it right away.
- Skip for now: Go straight to the Customix dashboard and come back to this later.

Step 4: Turn on the Customix app embed
The app embed is what loads Customix on your storefront. Without it, customers won't see any options on your product pages.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on your live theme.
- In the left sidebar, click the App embeds icon.
- Find Customix 2.0 (Customix Personalizer) and switch its toggle on.
- Click Save in the top right corner of the theme editor.

Step 5: Check that everything is ready
Open Apps > Customix Personalizer. On the Home page, the App Embed card shows Active once the embed is on, and the Get started with Customix checklist tracks your first steps.

You're all set. Next, follow the Quickstart guide to build and publish your first personalized product.
