An option set is the group of personalization fields your customers fill in on a product page, such as a name, a photo, or a color choice. You build it once in Customix, then publish it to one or more Shopify products. This guide walks you through the whole flow with a simple example: a sweatshirt where customers type a name and see it on the product.
Step 1: Turn on the Customix app embed
The app embed is what loads Customix on your storefront. If it's off, customers won't see any options on your product pages, even after you publish an option set. You only need to do this once per theme.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on your live theme.
- In the left sidebar, click the App embeds icon.
- Find Customix 2.0 (Customix Personalizer) and switch its toggle on.
- Click Save in the top right corner of the theme editor.

To double-check, open Apps > Customix Personalizer. On the Home page, the App Embed card shows Active when everything is set.

Step 2: Create a new option set
- In your Shopify admin, open Apps > Customix Personalizer > Option sets.
- Click Add in the top right corner.
The set editor opens. The first time, a Quick guide with short videos pops up. Watch them now or click Got it to close it.

Step 3: Name your option set
Click the set name at the top left (it starts as Untitled Template). A Settings panel opens where you can:
- Name: Give the set a name you'll recognize later, for example "Custom Name Sweatshirt". Customers never see this name.
- Format: Choose the file format for print files (PNG by default).

Step 4: Decide whether customers see a live preview
The editor works in two steps, shown at the top: 1 Customize (build the options) and 2 Publish (choose the products).
In the Options panel, the Live preview checkbox controls whether customers see their design on the product while they personalize it.
- Turn it on if you want a visual preview, for example a name printed on a shirt.
- Turn it off if you only need to collect information, such as a name for engraving or a note. The canvas disappears and you only work with the form fields.

Step 5: Add a product image
With Live preview on, click Add product image above the canvas, then choose a Background:
- Product image: Click Upload to add a PNG or JPG, or click the library icon next to it to pick one of your Images or a ready-made Mockup.
- Blank canvas: Start from an empty canvas with no product photo.
In this example, we picked a sweatshirt from Mockups > Adult Clothing > Sweatshirt.

Step 6: Add your first option
- Click the back arrow to return to Options, then click Add option.
- Choose an option type. For a name, pick Text.
- Click Add.

Step 7: Set up the option
The option's settings open on the left, and the text appears on the canvas. Fill in the basics:
- Default text: The text shown on the preview before the customer types anything (here, "Emma").
- Label: The title customers see above the field (here, "Your name").
- Placeholder: A hint inside the empty field (here, "Enter a name").
- Required: Tick this so customers can't add the product to cart without filling in the field.
Drag the text box on the canvas to place it, and drag its corners to resize it. The panel on the right shows how the form will look on your product page.

Step 8: Choose the products to publish to
- Click 2 Publish at the top of the editor.
- Click Browse, search for your product, tick it, and click Select. You can select several products at once: they all use the same option set, each with its own product photos.

Step 9: Save to publish
- If a selected product already uses another option set, tick Replace existing sets. The old set is archived, not deleted.
- Click Save in the bar at the top.
Customix publishes the set and shows a summary of what was published, skipped or failed. Click Done.

What happens next
Your product now appears under Published to, and the badge at the top right shows how many products use the set. From each product row you can:
- Live toggle: Show or hide the options on that product without removing the set.
- Eye icon: Open the product on your storefront to check how it looks.
- Assign previews: Choose which preview customers see for each variant of the product.
- Trash icon: Remove the set from that product.

On your storefront, customers fill in the field and click Preview Your Design to see their name on the product before adding it to cart.
