A test order is the quickest way to make sure your personalized product works from start to finish before real customers buy it. You'll check that the options show on your product page, that the preview looks right, and that the order in Customix has the correct details and print files.

Step 1: Make sure your option set is live

Open Option sets, then open the option set you want to test and click 2 Publish. Under Published to, check that your product is listed and its Live toggle is on.

Step 2: Personalize the product like a customer

  • Open the product page on your storefront. Click the eye icon next to the product in Published to to jump straight there.
  • Fill in every option the way a shopper would: type text, upload a photo, pick swatches.
  • Click Preview Your Design to check that everything shows up correctly on the product.

Step 3: Add to cart and check out

Click Add to cart and open your cart. The cart shows the personalized preview and every value the customer entered, such as Your name: Olivia.

Then click Check out and complete the order. To avoid a real charge, use Shopify's test payment mode or a 100% discount code.

Step 4: Find the order in Customix

Open Apps > Customix Personalizer > Orders. Your test order appears at the top of the list, with its payment status, fulfillment status and the number of customization items.

Step 5: Check the customization and print files

Click the order to open it. For each personalized item you'll see:

  • Option Set: The option set the customer used.
  • Print files: One file per print area (for example front, back and sleeves), ready to Download.
  • Customizations: Click it to see the exact values the customer entered.

How it works

If everything matches, your option set is ready for real customers. If something looks off, open the option set, adjust it, and click Save. The changes apply to every product the set is published to, so you can place another test order to confirm.
