Photo effects

Turn any upload into
a work of art.

Fifteen artistic effects that run in your buyer's browser, so there is no server round-trip to wait for. Chain them with server effects such as Remove background.

Background remover

Drop in any photo. Clean PNG in ~1.2 seconds.

Face cutout

Isolate faces automatically: portraits, pets, families.

Oil painting

Repaints the photo in thick brush strokes that follow the shape of the subject. Choose flowing smeared strokes or flatter, poster-like patches, then adjust stroke length, width and shine.

Watercolour

A loose wash with soft bleeding edges and darker rims where the paint pools. Adjust the detail, edge darkening and an optional ink outline.

Pencil sketch

Reduces the photo to a clean line drawing. Pick pencil, ink or colour, then tune the detail, strength, contrast and grain.

Poster colours

Flattens the photo into a few bold blocks of colour, like a screen print, an old photo or pop art. Adjust the levels, grain and vignette.

Comic dots

Rebuilds the photo from printed ink dots. Choose classic dots, halftone or CMYK, and set the dot size.

Photo panels

Scatters the photo across overlapping prints: vertical panels, squares, polaroids or a shape cluster. Set the number of panels, the gap and the rotation.

Vignette and focus

Draws the eye to the subject with a classic vignette, a blurred vignette or a miniature tilt-shift. Adjust the size, feather and blur.

Colour strips

Splits the photo into vertical colour strips or a mosaic grid of tinted tiles.

Painted edges

Keeps the picture and breaks its border into rough, brushed-on strokes. Set the margin, brush size and backdrop colour.

Pixel fade

Dissolves the edges of the photo into scattered square pixels, over a colour taken from the photo itself.

Sticker border

Draws a thick white outline around the photo, with an optional second line outside it. Combine it with Remove background for a die-cut sticker silhouette.

Drop shadow

Adds an offset shadow behind the photo so it lifts off the page.

Jigsaw

Turns the photo into an assembled jigsaw puzzle with a few pieces lifted out. Set the grid size, lift and number of missing pieces.

Square prints

Rebuilds the photo as a collage of tilted square prints.

Text portrait

Draws the photo as lines of your own text, so the face emerges from readable type. Type the words you want.

Heavier effects such as Watercolour and Oil painting take a few seconds on large photos. Effects that reshape the photo's outline, such as Watercolour, Jigsaw and Pixel fade, apply one at a time.

Embroidery

Stitched to look
truly sewn.

Show buyers their text or logo as embroidery stitches, live in the customizer. The print file carries the stitched look.

Text embroidery

Buyers type their text and see it as embroidery stitches in the live preview. Choose satin, fill or cross stitch, set the density, and pick a thread from the 40-colour palette or any colour you like.

Works best with letters 5 mm tall or larger.

Turn an uploaded logo or flat artwork into a stitched patch. Customix reduces it to a few thread colours and stitches each area. Choose the stitch mode, up to 16 colours and how the background is removed.
