The Choice list option lets customers pick from a list of named choices that you type in yourself, such as Yes / No, Gift wrap / No gift wrap, or a few style names. It replaces the Additional swatch option of earlier versions: the choices are typed straight into the option instead of being read from Assets folders.
Like Checkbox, a Choice list has no layer on the product preview. Its job is to record the customer's pick, optionally charge an add-on, and drive Condition on other options, so they only show up when they're needed.
To add it, go to Option sets in the sidebar, open the option set for your product, click Add option, choose Choice list under Form Elements, then click Add.

Content
The Content section holds the question, its choices and how they're shown.
- Label: the question shown above the choices, defaults to "Choice list"
- Help text: optional guidance shown below the label
- Required: the customer must pick a choice before they can add the product to cart
- Choices: click Add choice to create the first choice, then Add option value for each one after it. Type a name for each choice, drag the handle to reorder them, or click the bin to remove one.
- Attach add-on variant: the tag icon next to a choice opens Shopify's product picker, so you can link a variant of an add-on product that is charged when the customer picks that choice
- Default value: the choice that's already selected when the product page opens, None by default

One choice or several
Allow multiple selections is ticked by default, so customers can tick more than one choice. While it's ticked, Minimum choices and Maximum choices set how many choices they must pick and how many they may pick.
Untick it when customers should pick exactly one choice, as in a Yes / No question. The minimum and maximum fields then disappear.

Display style sets how the choices appear on the product page:
- Checkboxes (several choices) or Radio buttons (one choice): a list with a tick box or a round button next to each choice
- Buttons: each choice as a button the customer clicks
- Dropdown: a select menu that opens on click

Using it with Condition
A common setup is a Yes / No question that shows another option only when the customer answers Yes. In this example the option set asks "Add a custom name?", and the name field (Enter your text) appears only after the customer picks Yes.
Open the option you want to control, expand its Condition section and click Edit. Click Add condition, then pick your Choice list in the option list, where it's listed under Options, above Shopify variant options like Color and Size.

Next, tick the choice that should show the option, here Yes, and click Save in the dialog. If you leave every choice unticked, any choice matches.

The controlled option now stays hidden on the product page until the customer picks the matching choice, then it appears automatically.

A Choice list also has a Condition section of its own, so the question itself can be shown or hidden based on another selection in the option set.
