Assign previews links each product variant to one of your option set's previews. When a customer picks a variant on your product page, for example the color Red, Customix shows their design on the matching preview instead of the default one.

Before you start, add one preview per variant to your option set. See Use Multiple Previews in an Option Set.

Step 1: Open Assign previews for a product

Open your option set, click 2 Publish, and find the product under Published to. Click Assign previews on that product row.

The panel lists the product's option (for example Color) and each of its values, with a preview dropdown next to every value. The counter in the top right shows how many values are assigned.

Step 2: Choose a preview for each value

Click the dropdown next to a value and pick a preview. Each preview shows a small thumbnail so you can match colors at a glance.

  • Default: The value uses your first preview.
  • Preview 1, Preview 2, …: The value uses that preview.

Repeat for every value until the counter reads, for example, 5 of 5 values assigned.

Step 3: Save and check your storefront

Click Save. Customix confirms with Previews updated on 1 product. Open the product on your storefront, pick a variant, and click Preview Your Design. The preview now matches the variant.

Good to know

  • Assignments are saved per product. If you publish the set to several products, set up Assign previews on each of them.
  • Assign previews currently lists only the last option of the product. If your product has both Size and Color, put Color last in Shopify (Products > your product > Variants) so you can assign previews by color.
  • If you change a product's options or variants in Shopify, remove the product from the set and publish it again so Customix picks up the changes.
