Live preview shows customers their design on the product while they personalize it, for example their name printed on a sweatshirt. Some products don't need that, such as engraving where you only collect the text. This article explains when to turn Live preview on or off, and how to set up the image the preview is built on.
Turn Live preview on or off
In the editor, the Live preview checkbox sits at the top of the Options panel.
- On: The canvas shows the product image with the customer's design on it. Customers can click Preview Your Design on your product page.
- Off: The canvas is hidden and you only work with the form fields. Add print area becomes Add print file, so you can still create a print-ready file without showing a preview.

Set the product image
With Live preview on, click Add product image above the canvas (or click the preview's edit icon) to open its settings. Under Background, choose:
- Product image: A photo or mockup of your product.
- Blank canvas: A plain background color, useful for posters, cards or when you don't have a product photo yet.

Choose an image
Click Upload to add a PNG or JPG from your computer, or click the library icon next to it to pick from:
- Images: Pictures you uploaded to Assets. Use the search bar to find them by name, or click Add > Upload files to upload new ones.
- Mockups: Ready-made product mockups from Customix, organised by product type, for example Adult Clothing > Sweatshirt.
Tick the image and click Done.

Canvas size
Under Size, Customix shows the width and height of the canvas. It follows the image you choose, so a 800 x 800 image gives an 800 x 800 canvas. Click Edit to change it.
